TORONTO (February 1, 2012) – Breakthrough Entertainment has named Diane Boehme to the newly created position of Senior Development Executive, Scripted, Features and Factual, it was announced by Breakthrough Entertainment principals Ira Levy and Peter Williamson.

Based in Breakthrough’s Toronto headquarters, Boehme brings to the company more than 25 years of experience in television development and production, including lead executive roles behind several of Canada’s most popular and cutting-edge programs.

In her new position, Boehme will supervise development of primetime drama and comedy, feature films and factual series.

Boehme joins Breakthrough from EBTV, the television production-distribution joint venture between Los Angeles-based Essential Pictures and Canadian film and TV producer Brightlight Pictures, where she headed up program development. During her tenure with the company, Boehme supervised development on projects including the series Covenants (developed in association with Scott Free Television) and Mr. Hockey an MOW about hockey legend Gordie Howe.

Boehme also served as Senior Director, Independent Production for CHUM Television and then as Director, Original Production for TMN: The Movie Network and HBO Canada. Boehme has amassed an impressive array of television credits as Executive in Charge of Production, including Gemini Award winning Best Comedy Series, Canadian Comedy Award-winner & WGC Comedy Award-winner Less Than Kind; multiple Gemini nominee Call Me Fitz; ACTRA Award-winner Terminal City; the stylish, brooding, Gemini Award-winner, Durham County and the internationally syndicated, audience favourite Murdoch Mysteries.
